A surge of robberies and police encounters happened in the city on Friday, leaving several individuals injured and raising concerns about public safety.
One of the most serious incidents occurred at Usman School Block B, North Nazimabad, where two suspected robbers were apprehended following a shootout with the police. One suspect, Muhammad Rehman, son of Muhammad Arshad, sustained injuries, while his brother, Muhammad Farhan, was arrested unharmed. Three accomplices evaded capture. Authorities confiscated two pistols, ammunition, and two stolen cell phones. The injured suspect was shifted to a medical facility, and investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident, Hasnain, son of Abdul Ghaffar, 25, was injured while resisting a robbery at Baghdadi Ali Hotel. He was taken to CHK for medical attention. Investigation into this incident were underway.
In another incident, an 18-year-old woman, Laiba, daughter of Dolat Haider, was injured by a stray bullet in Qasba Colony, Islamia Colony, near Bilal Masjid. She was taken to ASH for treatment. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
Another confrontation unfolded at Shreen Jinnah Colony Service Road near Peela Ground, where a suspect identified as Idrees, son of Abdul Latif, was apprehended after an exchange of gunfire with police. He sustained injuries and was transported to a medical facility. A pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle were recovered.
In Sector 1A/4, a police encounter resulted in the arrest of an injured suspect, Khalid, son of Altaf. His accomplice escaped. Confiscated items included a pistol, ammunition, eight mobile phones, and a motorcycle. The injured suspect was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Yet another encounter transpired on Khayaban-e-Muslim 30 Street, leading to the arrest of an injured suspect, Shahid Khan, son of Hassan Jan. His accomplice fled the scene. Recovered items included a pistol, ammunition, and narcotics. The injured suspect was taken to a medical facility.
In CR Patta near Ayesha Masjid, two suspects, Atiq and Amaar, were apprehended following an exchange of gunfire with the authorities. Atiq sustained injuries. Police recovered a pistol, ammunition, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle. The injured suspect was taken for medical treatment.
Two individuals, Shahid, son of Bashir Ahmed, 45, and Usama, son of Shahid, 22, were injured during a robbery resistance near Iqra University in DHA Phase 2. Both were transferred to JPMC.
Finally, Shameem, wife of Qasim Khan, aged 50-55, was injured by a stray bullet in Nasir Colony, Sector 32E. She was taken to JPMC for medical treatment, and investigations are continuing. The multiple incidents have spurred increased concern regarding safety in the city.
