KARACHI:The Karachi’s Baghdadi police on Monday arrested the accused, whose extortionist accomplice was already arrested in injured condition after an encounter from Musa Lane, Liyari area of the city.
According to police sources, a squad of Baghdadi police station headed by Station House Officer (SHO) carried out a raid near Madani Road, Electric Office, Bantuwa Street, Musa Lane, Lyari and arrested an extortionist, Irfan son of Abdul Rehman, a member of Wasiullah Lakho group of Lyari gang war.
The police said to have recovered one 9mm pistol, and ten bullets from the arrested accused. The arrested accused along with his accomplice had demanded extortion of Rs 5000000 from a citizen. The case of extortion was registered in the Baghdadi police station.
The accomplice of the arrested accused Irfan was arrested by the Baghdadi police on 2021-03-08 after a police encounter in an injured condition. His name was Kabir alias Dad, the police said. The accused was involved in serious cases like murder, attempted murder, extortion, snatching, and confrontation with police in different areas of the city and is highly wanted by the police, the city police said.
The arrested accused was the extortionist ringleader of the Wasiullah Lakho group of Lyari gang war and in the name of the same group along with his accomplice Kabir alias Dada used to carry out extortion activities from various traders of the city, the police officials added.
The arrested accused revealed during interrogation that cases like 23 (I) A in Boot Police Station, 381-A in Darakhshan Police Station and 23 (i) A in Azizabad Police Station have also been registered against him. Another former criminal record of the arrested accused is being checked and FIR No. 220/2021 against the arrested accused under Section 23 (i) A have been registered against arrested accused.
