Police, street criminals exchange fire in Karachi’s Memon Goth; 3 arrested, including 2 injured

Two suspected street criminals were injured in an armed encounter that followed their alleged firing on police for being stopped in the Memon Goth area, and were later taken into custody along with a third accomplice.

According to a statement issued by the Karachi Police today, the encounter began when officers signaled a suspicious motorcycle to stop. The motorcyclists allegedly opened fire on the authorities instead of stopping.

Law enforcement personnel returned fire, resulting in two individuals being injured. All three individuals, identified by police as Maula Bakhsh, Ali Asghar, and Ahmed, were later arrested.

Authorities reported recovering two pistols, their ammunition, the motorcycle used by the suspects, and an unspecified amount of cash from the scene.

The injured suspects have been moved to a hospital for medical treatment. A spokesperson confirmed that forensic analysis and a comprehensive record check of the accused are underway to aid the investigation.
