Population Welfare Dept employees protest for acceptance of their demands

LARKANA: Women and male employees of the Population Welfare Department of Government of Sindh, Larkana, staged a large protest in front of the press club here on Wednesday for acceptance of their just demands, where they also shouted slogans holding the banners in their hands.

Speaking on the occasion, Peeral Dayo, Mohammad Sharif Umrani, Ghulam Ali Panhwar, Tariq Bhutto, Irshad Khatoon Mughal, Parveen Buriro, Shabnam Junejo and others said that they have been demanding promotions, time scales, regularizing contract employees, enhancement of pays and pensions and so on but nothing has been done as yet which has caused tremendous anxiety among them as they are unable to meeting their monthly expenditure.

They said that the provincial minister and the bureaucrats are busy filling their stomachs through corruption; the elected representatives sitting in the assemblies are making laws for their own benefits only but nobody has so far taken care of the poor provincial employees and the masses whose sufferings have multiplied.

Repeating these demands, they demanded that promotions be made through DPCs immediately, and raise the pay scales and pensions of serving and retired government employees by more than 50 per cent keeping in view the inflation. They further demanded that 425 contract employees’ services must also be regularized posted in various districts including Ghotki. They said that social male mobilizers should be given 11th grade as per education and qualification, reduce electricity and gas prices by 50% or else we will be forced to boycott upcoming local bodies elections across Sindh, they warned.
