In a significant development, the Second Additional Sessions Judge of Thatta today approved the pre-arrest bail of residents of Aarab Solangi village following a police action that resulted in the demolition of several homes.
The court’s decision came after successful arguments by a group of senior lawyers representing the accused villagers, who proved that the charges of confrontation with police, interference in official duties, and rioting were baseless. The legal team, which included renowned lawyers like Advocate Ashraf Samoon and Advocate Panho Aqli, argued that the police actions conflicted with a previous court decision regarding land rights, rendering the case against the villagers groundless.
Those granted bail include various community figures, including senior journalist Hajjan Solangi and teacher Noor Muhammad Solangi. Each individual had to deposit a bail of 10,000 rupees. The court has directed the police to submit all relevant case documents by August 4, at which time the next hearing will take place.
Outside the court, Advocate Ashraf Samoon, along with former President of Thatta Bar Association Advocate Panho Aqli, emphasized the commitment to seeking justice for the affected villagers. They announced legal action against the police for the alleged wrongful demolition, looting, and damage to the village, aiming to hold law enforcement accountable through judicial means.
