Pakistan’s highest authorities, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, today jointly appealed to all national stakeholders, including corporate entities and manufacturers, to champion the honour and security of the country’s working population.
In their distinct pronouncements commemorating International Labour Day, both leaders underscored that a country which safeguards its labourers inherently secures its future. They further asserted that the empowerment of the workforce serves as the bedrock for enduring national resilience.
President Asif Ali Zardari affirmed Pakistan”s steadfast commitment to adhering to global employment standards and fostering fundamental workplace entitlements. These include equitable remuneration, comprehensive social protection, the eradication of forced and child labour, and the elimination of discrimination.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his address, highlighted that Pakistan”s human resource, encompassing those within its borders and abroad, exemplifies the nation”s prowess, diligence, and professional excellence.
He further noted that national welfare organisations, such as the Employees” Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) and the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF), are consistently striving to enhance the well-being of working individuals and their families. This support is extended through provisions for pensions, accommodation, schooling, and other crucial services.
