Prime Minister reaffirms Pakistan’s desire to strengthen mutually beneficial ties with Uzbekistan

Islamabad, September 11, 2020 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan. He expressed these views during a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Sardor Umurzaqov in Islamabad.

Matters of mutual interest, including COVID-19 pandemic, bilateral cooperation, regional connectivity, and regional peace and security were discussed in the meeting. Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted the potential for enhanced trade with increased regional connectivity as a result of different planned railway projects.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s positive contribution to the Afghan peace process and stressed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is of paramount importance for Pakistan and the region. The Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister expressed his country’s desire to have improved economic relations with better connectivity and make investments in Pakistan.
