Protecting lives, property duty of state: Ameer Bhutto

LARKANA:Sardar Ameer Bakhsh Bhutto has said that the main duty of the state is to protect the lives, property and dignity of the citizens but if the police and other law enforcement agencies on which billions of rupees are annually spent become helpless then it could be termed failure of the state.

He was talking to various delegations from the Bhutto community who reached Mirpur Bhutto on Tuesday from Balochistan’s Dera Murad Jamali, Sibbi, Lehri and other areas. He also visited Lakhi Ghulam Shah and offered full support to Zuhaib Bhutto whose relatives have been abducted.

He said when civilians are being kidnapped in presence of the police, other agencies and not even safe in their homes, then these institutions become helpless which is a vivid proof of the failure of the state. He said that in such a case, citizens have the right to protest peacefully according to the democratic rules and if the positive results are not achieved then the protest can be extended.

Bhutto further said that it was a matter of sadness that instead of mourning on the occasion of the anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, her party men and her own son were looking like they were swinging on the songs. He said instead of making useless speeches they should expose the killers of martyred Benazir Bhutto, but they have not been able to do so even after 14 years adding they are enjoying the power of using the Bhutto family name. He said on the other hand, people are troubled and have difficulties of every kind but no respite. Syed Hassan Mahmood Shah Amroti and other party leaders accompanied him on the occasion.

Bhutto also visited Torband village to offer condolences with Abdul Ghafoor Kehar over the demise of his mother. He also attended a reception held in his honour at Chatto Mangi village by Faqeer Iftekhar Mangi.
