The protest by the Sajag Shehri Ittehad against the non-commencement of construction work on the Nasirabad Tehsil Hospital and the shortage of doctors and medicines at the Rural Health Center continued for the 102nd consecutive day on Tuesday.
Leaders of Sajag Shehri Ittehad, including Sufi Ghaffar Chhini and Comrade Asif Kathia, along with various political, social, and business figures, demonstrated and observed a “Black Day.” The protesters wore black armbands as an expression of their dissatisfaction over the lack of progress.
The protest highlighted the non-commencement of work on the tehsil hospital and the shortage of doctors and medicines at the area’s rural health center.
According to the Ittehad’s leaders, the contractor for the hospital project had disappeared years ago, leaving the incomplete building in ruins. They stated that the silence of elected representatives and their “delaying tactics” on such a crucial matter of health are tantamount to betraying the local population.
The town’s chairman and 11 councilors were also criticized, being termed “silent spectators” on this long-standing issue.
The organizers, reiterating their commitment to continue the campaign, announced that a “Black Day” will be observed on the 103rd day as well. They clarified that the protest movement will continue until the construction work on the abandoned hospital finally begins.
