Protest by heirs of murdered youth in Umerkot ends after successful negotiations with SSP

The intense protest by the family of a young man, allegedly murdered by having his throat slit, ended on Monday after the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) assured them of the culprits’ arrest within five days.

The family of the deceased, identified as Muhammad Ismail Samejo, had initiated a strong protest by placing his body at Allah Wala Chowk. The protest began after the body of the young man, a jeep driver by profession, was found murdered near Moti Chowk last night.

Speaking to the media, the father of the deceased stated that they have no personal enmity with anyone and described the incident as a “brutal murder.” He demanded the immediate arrest of the involved elements and that they be brought to justice.

During the negotiations, SSP Umerkot assured the family that the incident is being investigated from all angles and that several significant clues have been obtained. He vowed that no leniency would be shown to the murderers and asked for a five-day deadline for their arrest, promising they would be punished according to the law.

Following these successful negotiations and the firm deadline given by the senior police official, the family ended their sit-in, which has reportedly eased tensions in the area.
