Provision of fundamental rights to each child ensure bright future of every society: NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri

Islamabad, October 05, 2021 (PPI-OT): Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri has said that children in our society need our protection and care especially the children of those who live below poverty line need more care and attention.

 

He said that the best model to follow to treat our children was presented by our last Holy Prophet Peace be upon him who always treated children with care and kindness. He said that provision of basic rights like education, health and security is the right of each child. He also said that children in our society are facing a lot of socio-economic challenges like all other countries of the world.

 

He also said that implementation of Single National Curriculum across the country would eliminate apartheid in education system of our country. He expressed these views while addressing the “Strategic Planning Consultative Workshop” organized by National Commission on the Rights of Children (NCRC) in Islamabad today.

 

While mentioning the initiative of the incumbent government for establishment of NCRC, Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri said that there is a need to empower NCRC as this commission can play a role of bridge to coordinate in the uniformity of policies to protect children across the country.

 

He said that parliament is fully cognizant of challenges faced by children in our society as it has enacted legislation like Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery ACT 2020 to protect our children from all kinds of harassment. He also said that it is our collective responsibility to ensure provision of basic rights to all children, especially the destitute and needy ones.

 

He also said that this government has started to incentivize the parents in terms of Monthly grants for enrolling their children in schools as this step would lessen the number of 25 Million out of school children. Chairperson NCRC Ms. Afshan Tehseen briefed the participants about basics of NCRC and about challenges faced by children in our society. She said that NCRC would continue to work and guide all concerned departments to make policies for protection of our children. She expressed her gratitude to Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri for gracing this event.
