Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan on Monday firmly rejected the results of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, alleging that the entire electoral exercise was marred by serious irregularities, pre-poll manipulation, and denial of a level playing field. The party announced that it would soon issue a comprehensive white paper detailing its objections.
Barrister Gohar told a press briefing that the elections were ‘fake and rigged,’ alleging that the process had been ‘pre-engineered’ to influence outcomes. He further announced that PTI would observe a ‘black day’ in Gilgit-Baltistan on the occasion of the oath-taking ceremony.
He claimed that the party had obtained Form 47 results from three constituencies and maintained that PTI was leading in eight seats with decisive margins, which he said were not reflected in the final consolidated results announced by the authorities.
Barrister Gohar alleged that systematic manipulation of votes, coupled with restrictions on voters’ ability to freely exercise their franchise, had undermined the democratic process. He further stated that pre-election rigging had already tilted the electoral playing field against PTI candidates.
He added that the forthcoming white paper would comprehensively document the party’s allegations, including what it described as administrative interference and procedural violations during the election process.
The development comes amid intensified political debate over the transparency and credibility of the Gilgit-Baltistan polls, with opposition parties continuing to question the fairness of the electoral framework and its implementation.
