Punjab-bound bus overturns on national highway due to fog, 9 passengers injured

Two passenger coaches were affected in two separate major accidents on the National Highway on Wednesday, resulting in nine people being injured in one incident while the other vehicle was completely destroyed by fire.

The first incident occurred within the limits of Halani police station, where a coach traveling from Karachi to Punjab overturned near Arsalan Petrol Pump. Authorities attributed the accident to heavy fog in the area. Nine passengers were injured in the accident and were immediately transferred to medical centers in Halani and Gambat for treatment.

In the second incident, another passenger bus traveling from Karachi to Alipur, Punjab, suddenly caught fire near Bhiria City. The driver, showing presence of mind, moved the burning vehicle away from a nearby petrol pump and the main highway, allowing all passengers to be safely evacuated.

Despite the prompt evacuation, the ensuing fire completely engulfed the vehicle, reducing it to ashes. It was reported that a copy of the Holy Quran was also recovered from the wreckage, miraculously untouched by the fire.

Local police have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances of both incidents have been initiated.
