LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz said on Saturday he had ordered the immediate release of senior PTI leader Shireen Mazari, who had been picked up from her home in Islamabad.
He said that inquiry should be held against the personnel of the anti-corruption unit who had arrested her. “Even if the arrest of the PTI leader had become inevitable after the conclusion of an inquiry against her, then this should have been done as per law of the land,” he said, adding he did not agree with the mode of arrest of Mazari because the PML-N believed in respect for women.
The CM went on to add that despite the fact there was resentment in the party ranks over the indecent use of language by PTI Chairman Imran Khan against Maryam, still the PML-N did not believe in political victimization of its opponents.
