Punjab Information Technology Board refutes data leakage reports on Social Media

Lahore, May 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): Referring to reportedly data leakage reports in PITB on social media by unknown elements, a spokesman of PITB has categorically rebuffed such misleading claims and termed them as concocted, baseless, mischievous and contrary to the facts. The spokesman said that blaming PITB on such sensitive issue by unidentified and unknown elements itself confirmed that the move was with mal intentions by some individuals having vested interests, otherwise claimants of such reports would have confronted with their real faces and original names.

Responding to queries made on social media, he said that hacking attempts from across the globe were a regular phenomenon as being done elsewhere in the world but at PITB’s three tire Data Centre there has been not even a single leakage of Data. Replying to another claim that social media is full of Apps giving access to the public data for some money, he termed it factually incorrect as social media was not full of apps while any violation of tress pass or exercising unauthorized access by any official was always dealt under the prevalent service rules.

The allegations of some hackers regarding developing vulnerable Apps and APIs by PITB was also unfounded. PITB has highly qualified in-house security team headed by a thorough professional, which was vigilant 24/7 to respond to the cyber threats. No one in PITB has direct access to NADRA data, the spokesman concluded.
