The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is set to conduct the balloting for the Punjab e-Bike Scheme, a pioneering project aimed at providing transportation solutions to deserving students.

In a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan, the progress of the scheme was evaluated, revealing a remarkable response from students. With applications surpassing the 100,000 mark, the enthusiasm for the initiative is palpable, underscoring its significance in addressing student mobility challenges.

The balloting, scheduled for May 10, will determine the allocation of 20,000 e-bikes to eligible students. Launched under the Chief Minister Youth Initiative on April 12, the scheme offers an opportunity for students to acquire e-bikes through affordable monthly installment plans.

Male students can avail themselves of the offer at Rs 11,676 per month, while female students have the option to pay Rs 7,325 per month, ensuring accessibility for all. The distribution of bikes will adhere to a 50/50 percent quota for male and female students in urban areas, while in rural areas, 70 percent of the quota will be reserved for male students and 30 percent for female students, promoting gender equality and inclusivity.
