Punjab University Students Receive Over PKR 55 Million in Aid Through Private Foundation

The Qasim Ali Shah Foundation (QASF) today provided scholarships worth PKR 55.13 million to students of the University of the Punjab since January 2021, it was announced during a ceremony on Monday held to acknowledge the organisation”s contributions.

The non-profit organisation is currently sponsoring the education of 107 deserving university students under its “Taleem Mumkin Scholarship Programme” for the March 2025 to February 2026 term. Each recipient is awarded a monthly stipend of PKR 10,000.

According to figures shared at the event, a total of PKR 9.33 million had already been disbursed to the current cohort by December 2025. The scholarship initiative has supported 304 students to date, including 197 who have already graduated.

Addressing the attendees, renowned educationist and the foundation”s founder, Qasim Ali Shah, explained that the QASF, established in 2017, is committed to grooming youth through personal development, leadership training, and motivational learning opportunities.

He stated that the foundation focuses on capacity building and skill development to prepare future leaders for the betterment of society and Pakistan.

Prof Dr Hafiz Anwaar Asghar, Director of Planning and Development at the university, detailed the portfolio of the Student Financial Aid Office. He stressed that the selection process is conducted on strictly fair, transparent, and merit-based criteria.

Prof Asghar noted that interviews of more than 20,000 applicants have been conducted over time, with many candidates hailing from remote and underprivileged areas of the country. He extended a vote of thanks to Mr Shah on behalf of the university.

Success stories from scholarship recipients were also shared during the event to illustrate the impact of the financial assistance.

Later, Mr Shah met with the university”s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, who expressed his gratitude for the foundation”s continuous support and partnership in assisting deserving students.
