Islamabad, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Religious freedom conditions have taken a drastic turn downwards in India as Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government is tolerating and patronizing widespread harassment and violence against religious minorities including lunching.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said the RSS-backed Modi government is preaching dominance of Hindu religion over other faiths and attacks by Hindu mobs against Muslims, Sikhs and Christians have become a routine affair in India. It maintained that the true face of Modi stands exposed fully in IIOJK where Muslims are being robbed of their identity.
“Modi is shaping India according to the Hindutva policy of RSS. BJP-led Indian government is promoting Hindu nationalist policies resulting in systematic and egregious violations of religious freedom,” the report said. It pointed out that the US Commission on International Religious Freedom in its latest report exposed the true face of Modi regime, saying that India’s religious freedom conditions continued negative trajectory in 2021.
The US Commission has highlighted police complicity in violence against Muslims during deadly riots in New Delhi last year and called for designating India as a country of particular concern with regard to religious freedom.
The report said that the extremist Hindus patronized by the BJP have been continuously attacking the religious places, houses and shops of Muslims in different areas of Tripura state for the last over a week. The Hindu mobs have vandalized and damaged at least 16 mosques, dozens of houses and shops of Muslims in this period. It said that the world human rights bodies must come forward to save the religious minorities from Hindu fascism in India.
The report further said that Muslims are the main target of extremist Hindus in India. “Muslims are often being lynched across India over beef eating and cow slaughtering. Reports of lynching and physical bashing of minorities by armed and organized RSS extremists have become a norm in India. Mob violence has threatened not just the Muslim community but also other minorities in India. Modi’s India has become increasingly intolerant for dissenters as well as religious minorities,” it said.
