PESHAWAR: On the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Mehmood Khan, the work of restoring the protective wall of Machi Branch of Upper Swat Canal, which was damaged by the earthquake, is underway on emergency basis.
The reconstruction work is underway day and night. On the direction of the Chief Minister, Secretary Irrigation and Chief Engineer Irrigation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were personally overseeing the rehabilitation work.
The provincial government is using all available financial and human resources for this purpose to ensure that the affected part of the canal is rehabilitated in the shortest possible time to prevent crops from being affected on the agricultural lands of the command area.
