A Russian delegation on Friday confirmed that both houses of its parliament will attend the forthcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), a significant development for the high-profile international summit being hosted in Pakistan.
The commitment was formalized during a meeting at the Parliament House between Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate and Ambassador to the ISC, and Russian officials Mr. Anton Berniakovich, Head of the Political Station, and Mr. Anton Verschagin. The Senior Director General (Protocol) of the Senate of Pakistan also attended the discussion.
Conversations centered on enhancing parliamentary collaboration and strengthening multilateral dialogue under the ISC framework. Both parties reviewed the logistical and organizational arrangements for the summit, addressing specifics such as program scheduling, protocol matters, and security coordination.
Ms. Khar briefed the Russian representatives on Pakistan’s comprehensive preparations for the event, affirming that all measures were being taken to ensure the conference meets stringent international standards and diplomatic protocols.
The Russian officials commended the initiative from the Chairman Senate of Pakistan, recognizing its value in promoting global dialogue on peace, security, and sustainable development.
Highlighting the deep-rooted bilateral ties between the two nations, Ms. Misbah Khar reaffirmed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its partnership with the Russian Federation. She reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to fostering constructive parliamentary engagement.
