SAPM: (Govt to launch Ehsaas Emergency Cash programme for coronavirus affectees)

ISLAMABAD:Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has said that the government is going to launch Ehsaas Emergency Cash programme to provide financial assistance to the deserving people affected by the coronavirus negative impacts.

Taking part in a Radio Pakistan’s programme on Wednesday, she said 12,000 rupees will be given to the needy for four months under the programme.

She said the relief package announced by the Prime Minister will help mitigate problems of the people in different sectors, including the labour class, caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Dr Sania Nishter said Ehsaas SMS will be launched in the next two to three weeks to bring more deserving people under the social safety net of Ehsaas programme. She said people can also get themselves included in Ehsaas programme through the district administration.

She said an SMS portal is also being prepared to provide people details of their payments through mobile phone. Dr Sania urged people to acquire national identity cards from NADRA because it is prerequisite to get benefit from Ehsaas programme.

She expressed confidence that Pakistan will be able to overcome the challenge of coronavirus if people implement in letter and spirit the government instructions about it.

She said people should not get panic and need not purchase essential commodities more than their requirement because it will create artificial shortage in the market.
