Authorities have put law enforcement agencies on high alert across Punjab, and heavy police contingents have been deployed to protect churches and Christian congregations from potential threats by miscreants during worship services.
In a directive issued this morning, Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered all deployed officers and personnel to remain extremely vigilant and proactive against subversive elements.
In his instructions, the IG emphasized the need to “keep a close watch on miscreants” and ordered the continuation of comprehensive search and sweep operations in the vicinity of churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive places.
To promote sectarian peace, Dr. Usman Anwar also appealed to religious scholars, leaders of the Christian community, and members of local peace committees to actively promote the message of interfaith harmony.
Christian worship services are continuing under these strict security arrangements across the province, including the provincial capital.
