Second day of LCCI-DEPO “Suppliers and Vendors Defence Exhibition 2018” attracts great number of local, foreign visitors

Lahore, August 17, 2018 (PPI-OT): Second day of the LCCI-DEPO “Suppliers and Vendors Defence Exhibition (SAVDEX 2018) remained great attraction on 2nd day also and a large number of local and foreign visitors visited event. Seminar on ‘Pakistan’s Defence Industry; Export Potential, Challenges and Prospects’ is also in progress at Lahore Expo Centre. SAVDEX 2018 is a joint initiative of Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) from 16-18 August 2018.

Chairman Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Lt Gen Saddiq Ali, delegation of Pakistan Navy, headed by Vice Admiral Abdul Aleem, the LCCI President Malik Tahir Javaid and high government officials visited the exhibition and met with CEOs of various companies. Various public and private defence manufacturers have displayed their state of the art product/equipment at over 250 stalls. Second day was open for suppliers and vendors to hold business and networking meetings with CEOs of participating industry.

During Defence Industry Seminar, eminent speakers highlighted the importance of Public-Private partnership in defence manufacturing and support services. The seminar underscored the corporate interests of public and private defence industry of Pakistan and aimed at providing policy guidelines to the Government to further optimize the potential in defence industry for economic growth of the country. Renowned subject matter experts presented their scholarly papers on the subject.

In addition, round table talks by the Chairman Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) and Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) were also held which were participated by large number of private sector suppliers and vendors. Opportunities were also provided to familiarize them with public sector defence procurement agencies for enhance business.

Chairman Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Lt Gen Saddiq Ali and LCCI President Malik Tahir Javaid were of the view that economy and strengthening of Pakistan’s defence capabilities are need of the hour through which we can not only address internal and external challenges but can also achieve the goal of economic stability.

They said that defense products of Pakistan are of international quality and can get huge share in the international defence market through good marketing. They said that public and private sectors public sector should adopt new ideas to benefit from experiences each other.

“Private sector’s investment in different sectors of defence production should be encouraged. Pakistan has achieved significant progress in defence production adding that the purpose of this Exhibition and Seminar is to formulate solid recommendations by exploring avenues for public-private partnership and devise effective policies in this regard”, they concluded. It is also pertinent to mention here that the exhibition will be open for general public on 18 August from 0900 to 1700 Hrs.
