In a major reassurance to the country’s commercial sector, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan affirmed on Wednesday that Parliament is focused on introducing business-friendly laws designed to improve the investment climate and bolster investor confidence, underscoring the vital role of entrepreneurs in national progress.
Addressing a ceremony for the newly elected leadership of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Khan lauded the business community as the “backbone of Pakistan’s national economy,” stating that the nation’s prosperity is intrinsically linked to their contributions.
The event honored the appointment of Sardar Tahir Mahmood as the new ICCI President. The Deputy Chairman also extended congratulations to Senior Vice President Tahir Ayyub, Vice President Irfan Chaudhry, and the entire new team on their election.
Syedal Khan praised the capital’s business community for its significant part in advancing trade and industry. He expressed confidence that the new ICCI leadership would uphold its legacy of constructive dialogue with policymakers to strengthen Pakistan’s economic landscape.
He described the chamber as a pivotal partner in shaping the country’s economic vision, noting that the ICCI consistently provides reform-oriented recommendations that contribute to national stability and expansion.
The Deputy Chairman emphasized the necessity of robust collaboration between the state and the private sector. He identified institutions like the ICCI and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) as essential bridges facilitating effective policymaking between the government and commercial entities.
Reaffirming the legislature’s commitment, Khan assured that recommendations from traders and industrialists receive due consideration in the legislative process. The primary goals, he noted, are to foster a favorable investment environment and generate employment opportunities for the youth.
Turning his focus to regional development, he underlined the economic potential of Balochistan and called for a coordinated national strategy to promote investment in the province. He proposed creating stronger linkages between the Islamabad Chamber and its counterparts in Balochistan to spur industrial growth and create jobs nationwide.
In his concluding remarks, the Deputy Chairman reiterated his best wishes to the newly elected ICCI officials, wishing them success in their endeavors to advance Pakistan’s economic progress and stability.
