Seven youth arrested during CASOs in Shopian

Srinagar, January 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police and troops arrested seven youth during cordon and search operations and nocturnal raids in Shopian district. The troops and police personnel conducted raids on houses after cordoning off Kanjiuallar, Wangam, Sudershan Pora, Rakhpora, Amirabad, Naristan Handew, Batapora and Dragadh areas of the district and picked up seven youth for participating in anti-India demonstrations. Those arrested were identified as Meraaj Tantray, Afridi Hussain, Mohsin Rasheed Lone, Farooq Ahmed Butt, Showkat Ahmed Thokar, Abdul Rasheed Thokar and Azad Ahmad Itoo.

Local residents talking to media men said that amid chill people were asked by the troops and police personnel to come out of their houses. They said that the forces’ personnel dragged seven youth out of their houses and whisked them away in an armoured vehicle.

Indian troops also conducted cordon and search operations at Nargistan, Gusoo and Tral in Pulwama district, Kulhama in Bandipora district and at Tarzoo in Sopore area of Baramulla district. Meanwhile, sleuths of India’s National Investigating Agency (NIA) conducted raids and searches in the houses of two religious persons in Rajouri area of Jammu and in some areas in south Kashmir.
