Severe cold as temperature drops, high risk of smog predicted in plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A severe cold wave continues across the country, with the meteorological department today predicting a high risk of smog in the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the weather will remain severely cold in the mountainous regions.

According to the country’s weather situation, the weather will remain cold and dry in most areas. A further drop in temperature is expected in the upper parts of the country, especially during the morning and night hours.

The temperatures recorded in major cities this morning indicated the intensity of the cold. The temperature in the capital Islamabad and Muzaffarabad was recorded at three degrees Celsius. Lahore was at ten while Peshawar was at six degrees. In the south, Karachi’s temperature was recorded at fifteen degrees. Quetta was at one degree and Murree at two degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Gilgit dropped to minus three degrees Celsius.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is predicted to remain cold and dry in Srinagar, Jammu, Pulwama, and Shopian. In contrast, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy in Anantnag and Baramulla, while severe cold is expected in Leh.

This morning in the region, the temperature in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Shopian was zero degrees Celsius. Jammu recorded eight degrees, while Leh was in the grip of the most severe cold at minus seven degrees. The temperature in both Anantnag and Baramulla was recorded at one degree Celsius.
