Severe cold wave across the country, fog and smog alert in plain areas

The Meteorological Department has forecast that a severe cold wave will persist in most parts of the country,

The Meteorological Department said on Thursday that light to dense fog and smog is also expected in large plain areas.

The advisory specifically indicated that visibility may be reduced in the plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the prevailing atmospheric conditions.

Temperatures recorded early in the morning in various urban centers indicated cold weather across the country. The temperature was recorded at eight degrees Celsius in both Islamabad and Quetta, while it was twelve degrees in Lahore and ten degrees in Peshawar.

Among the monitored cities, Karachi remained the warmest at fifteen degrees Celsius. In the northern areas, the temperature was three degrees in Gilgit, five degrees in Murree, and six degrees Celsius in Muzaffarabad.

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is forecast to be cold and partly cloudy in Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla. A similar situation is expected for Jammu, while severe cold is anticipated in Leh.

This morning, the temperature in Leh dropped to minus two degrees Celsius in the region. It was recorded at two degrees in Srinagar, Anantnag, and Shopian, while it was three degrees in Pulwama and Baramulla. Jammu had a relatively moderate eleven degrees Celsius.
