According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast today, a severe cold wave has gripped most parts of the country, with the temperature dropping to freezing point in Quetta, while in Gilgit, the temperature has reached minus two degrees Celsius.
The weather is likely to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country. In the mountainous areas, the weather is expected to be severely cold during the morning and night.
In addition, smog and light fog are predicted in some plain areas of Punjab during the morning and night.
This morning, the temperature in the capital Islamabad and Muzaffarabad was recorded at seven degrees Celsius. Among other major cities, Lahore recorded fifteen, Karachi nineteen, Peshawar eight, and Murree six degrees Celsius.
In occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is forecast to be cold and dry in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla, while the weather in Jammu is likely to remain dry.
A significant drop in temperature has also been observed in the region, with Leh recording a temperature of minus seven degrees Celsius with severe cold. Srinagar, Shopian, and Baramulla recorded minus one degree, while Pulwama and Anantnag recorded minus two degrees. The morning temperature in Jammu was nine degrees Celsius.
