Severe cold wave in the upper regions of the country, Gilgit, Murree, and Muzaffarabad temperatures drop below freezing point

The Meteorological Department reported on Wednesday that a severe cold wave is gripping the hilly areas of the country, where temperatures at several places have dropped well below the freezing point. The temperature in Quetta was recorded at minus five degrees Celsius, while in Leh, in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir region, the temperature was a severely cold minus thirteen degrees.

The weather is expected to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country. Authorities have also warned that fog may occur in a few places in northeastern Punjab.

Temperatures in major urban centers varied this morning. Islamabad and Peshawar both recorded a temperature of five degrees Celsius, while Lahore was at ten degrees. In the south, Karachi’s temperature was twelve degrees Celsius. The weather was colder in other northern areas, with Gilgit recording minus four, Murree minus one, and Muzaffarabad zero degrees Celsius.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather is forecast to be very cold and partly cloudy in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla. However, in Jammu, the weather is expected to be cold and partly cloudy.

This morning, the temperature in the region was minus two degrees Celsius in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla, and minus three degrees in Anantnag and Shopian. Jammu was relatively less cold, with eight degrees Celsius recorded.
