Severe fog across the country and temperature dropped below freezing point

Most parts of the country are in the grip of a severe cold wave, with temperatures dropping below freezing point in several areas and dense fog expected in the main plain areas.

According to the latest weather bulletin, the Meteorological Department said on Monday that the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country. A severe cold wave is forecast in the mountainous areas.

In addition, authorities have issued a warning of moderate to dense fog in the plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the temperatures recorded in major urban centers this morning, Islamabad was three, Lahore five, and Karachi nine degrees Celsius. Peshawar was four, while Quetta and Murree recorded freezing point, i.e., zero degrees. The lowest temperature was recorded in Gilgit at minus four and Muzaffarabad at two degrees Celsius.

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the weather office has forecast cloudy weather and severe cold in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla. The weather in Jammu is likely to remain partly cloudy and cold.

This morning in the region, the temperature in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Anantnag was minus three degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature in Leh was minus nine degrees, while Shopian and Baramulla were minus two degrees. A temperature of four degrees Celsius was recorded in Jammu.
