Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today lauded US President Donald Trump for his pivotal role in securing a ceasefire in Lebanon, as the United States reaffirmed its intent to deepen engagement with Pakistan on shared priorities. This significant commendation came amidst discussions focusing on counter-terrorism efforts, economic development, and global challenges.
The reaffirmation of strengthened collaboration was conveyed by Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs. Mr Boulos paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Sharif on the margins of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held today in Antalya, Turkiye.
During their amicable meeting, Mr Boulos extended felicitations to the Prime Minister from former President Donald Trump. He also acknowledged Pakistan”s constructive contributions to fostering regional stability.
Prime Minister Sharif reciprocated warm wishes to Mr Trump, reminiscing about their own friendly engagements in the past. He further expressed profound gratitude for Mr Trump”s audacious and resolute leadership, which had previously facilitated a ceasefire between Pakistan and India during a period of heightened tensions last year.
Discussions between the two delegations encompassed contemporary regional affairs, including Pakistan”s peace initiatives that culminated in the aforementioned truce between Pakistan and India, along with the landmark Islamabad Talks.
The Prime Minister stressed the criticality of enhancing Pakistan-US bilateral ties, particularly in economic and trade collaboration. Both sides also touched upon addressing shared interests within multilateral diplomatic frameworks.
