KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Women’s Development Syeda Shehla Raza on Wednesday took notice of the alleged early child marriage of a teenage girl in Hyderabad and directed the women development department Hyderabad team to immediately contact the parents of the minor girl.

The provincial minister spoke to the girl’s father over telephone and provided him with legal assistance. On the other hand, Shehla also directed the Sindh women’s development department to plead the case in the trial court on behalf of the girl’s father.

The provincial minister said that according to the school certificates presented in the court by the girl’s father, the girl was born in 2010 while the age of the girl was recorded in the marriage certificate as 18 years, although according to the documents, the girl is only 12 years old. It may be recalled that a case of abduction of the girl was registered by the father on May 21in Hyderabad.
