Shopkeepers moves SHC against anti-encroachment operation

KARACHI:The shopkeepers of Karachi’s Korangi Sector 44-A on Friday moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the anti-encroachment operation in Karachi.

The owners of shops located in Korangi Sector 44-A filed a petition against the abolition of notices issued for 312 shops of Korangi Welfare Association.

The petition stated that the shops were established on the welfare plot in 1963 and applications were sent constantly to the Sindh chief minister for regularization which were not responded to.

It stated that an anti-encroachment cell had issued notice to demolish the shops and its implementation will affect poor shopkeepers. It demanded of the court to stop concerned officials from demolishing the shops. Sindh Chief Minister, Commission Karachi, Director-General Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and others were made parties in the case.
