Sikh bodies hail CCG’s efforts for Kashmir’s old status

Jammu, November 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, various Sikh bodies have hailed the efforts of Concerted Citizen Group (CCG) headed by Yashwani Sinha, former Indian Minister as well as Bangladesh-Bharat-Pakistan Peoples Forum and J and K Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity of J and K for demanding restoration of special status of Kashmir.

These Sikh bodies included Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Sikh Intellectuals Circle, Shiromani Akali Dal (Kashmir), International Sikh Federation and Sikh Students Federations.

Sikh leaders of the organizations including Janak Singh, Bhai Gurdev Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Ranjit Singh, S. Manmohan Singh, S. Devinder Singh, S. Amandeep Singh, Manmeet Singh and Comrade Sukhdev Singh after a meeting in Jammu, today, told media men that Yashwant Sinha and his entire team had rightly concluded that situation in occupied Kashmir was not normal and after the India’s decision of stripping Kashmir of its special status and bifurcation had caused a huge psychological problem.

The Sikh leaders said that removal of special status and division of Kashmir without the consent of Kashmiri people had badly hurt the democratic and fundamental values of Kashmiris and was also against the international laws. They endorsed the stance of civil society groups for restoration of special status, lifting of communications blockade and release of all Kashmiri political leaders, traders, bar members and intellectuals.

They said that unresolved Kashmir dispute was the major cause of tension between India and Pakistan and appealed to the leadership of both countries and the world community to settle the dispute so that a nuclear catastrophe could be avoided and permanent peace could be established in South Asia.
