LARKANA: The Sindh-Balochistan Rice Millers and Traders Association Saturday expressed annoyance against the federal government for causing expensive electricity by imposing new taxes on the cost of electricity.
In a statement, the association said that rains and floods had affected the whole of Pakistan, in which Sindh and Balochistan had also been severely damaged and their rice mills were also facing great destruction.
They said that businesses had been affected a lot, adding many mills had been destroyed, but unfortunately, instead of any compensation, new taxes were being imposed. Under SRO, electricity has become very expensive and huge heavy bills have been issued against the closed mills which is high-handedness because the business of rice mills has been running only for about six months.
They appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister and Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Federal Minister for Energy Department to withdraw this SRO and withdraw HESCO and SEPCO bills issued by the government; otherwise, they reserved all legal rights to protest.
