Sindh Governor hosts reception in honor of hockey team

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori hosted a reception in honor of the national hockey team at the Governor House, here on Saturday.

The governor congratulated the national team for winning the bronze medal in the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament after a gap of 11 years. In the reception, Secretary General of Pakistan Hockey Federation Syed Haider Hussain, Olympian Abdul Hanif Khan, Team Manager Mohammad Saeed Khan, Head Coach Mr. Siegfried Gottlieb Aikman, Coach Olympian Ayaz Mehmood, Captain Muhammad Umar Bhatta, Syed Abu Zar Amrao, Akmal Hussain, Muhammad Abdullah, Arbaz Ahmed, Ehtsham Aslam, Rana Abdul Waheed Ashraf, Abdul Hanan Shahid, Junaid Manzoor, Afraz, Osama Bashir, Rana Sohail. Riaz, Abdullah Ishtiaq Khan, Muhammad Sufyan Khan, Aqeel Ahmed, Muhammad Murtaza Yaqub, Roman, Arshad Liaquat, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, Muhammad Imran and Abdul Wahab were present.

On the occasion, the Governor Sindh said that it was definitely a great success of Pakistan Hockey team. He further said that it was his desire to provide maximum facilities for the game of hockey in Sindh. In this context, children getting hockey training is a welcome thing for the future, he observed. He said that hockey is our national sport, so it should not be neglected, but now all available resources would be used to rehabilitate the playing fields and Inshallah this journey of success of the team will continue.
