Sindh govt taking steps to issue driving licence to hearing impaired persons

Karachi, August 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar has said that his Department is taking steps in order to issue driving licence to hearing impaired persons to make them more independent. This he said while presiding over a meeting here in Sindh Home Department on Thursday on the issue. Secretary Home Department Sindh Abdul Kabir Qazi, Secretary DEPD Khalid Chachar, DIG Driving licence Qamar Zaman and others also attended the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that amendments would be made in motor vehicles rules to issue driving licence to hearing impaired persons and for the purpose Sindh Transport Department would also be approached.

It was also suggested in the meeting that a special sticker would also be pasted on the vehicles of special persons as the other drivers could easily identify the vehicles, being driven by hearing impaired persons. Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar added, ‘ I am sure that if hearing impaired persons are given driving licence, they will be good drivers and will definitely follow the traffic rules’. He said that special persons should be facilitated at all level and must be made a useful part of the society. Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar was of the opinion that a kind and positive attitude should be adopted for special persons and we should encourage them to become more independent.
