Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah today detailed a strategy to establish a provincial transmission and distribution network, aiming to provide more economical electricity to households and industries across the region. This initiative, designed to offer significant relief to consumers and foster industrial expansion, was discussed during a meeting with Danish Ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen at the CM House.
The Chief Minister affirmed that the provincial administration is actively pursuing projects to generate cost-effective power and ensure its efficient delivery through its dedicated transmission entity. He stated that the objective is to secure economical electricity for both domestic users and industrial units by enhancing generation efficiency and mitigating transmission losses, which he noted would directly translate into public welfare and increased economic activity.
Mr. Shah underscored Sindh’s intent to assume a proactive role not merely in power generation but also in distribution, particularly to guarantee an uninterrupted and affordable electricity supply to underserved and industrial zones.
Highlighting the province’s substantial potential in renewable energy, the provincial leader pointed out extensive opportunities in wind power, especially along the coastal belt. He suggested that developing a dedicated wind corridor and associated ventures could position Sindh as a regional hub for clean energy solutions.
The Chief Minister reiterated the Sindh government”s commitment to advancing renewable energy and fostering a supportive environment for investors, extending an invitation to Danish enterprises to explore prospects in wind power and other sustainable energy initiatives.
Ambassador Mortensen expressed considerable interest in Sindh’s renewable energy sector, particularly wind power, reaffirming Denmark’s dedication to supporting environmentally sound projects. She commented that collaboration in green energy could unlock new investment avenues and reinforce economic ties between the two sides.
The discussion also encompassed coastal advancement, with Mr. Shah stressing the strategic importance of Keti Bandar. He revealed plans for developing the historic port area into a contemporary deep-sea port to alleviate strain on existing facilities in Karachi and unlock fresh economic prospects.
The Danish Ambassador acknowledged Keti Bandar’s potential, indicating that its development could substantially boost regional trade and connectivity.
Both parties consented to investigate new avenues for partnership in energy, infrastructure, and investment, while reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening relations between Pakistan and Denmark. They also exchanged felicitations on reaching 75 years of diplomatic engagement between their nations.
The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating the Sindh government’s pledge to cultivate an environment conducive to foreign investment, particularly in sectors that underpin sustainable expansion, energy security, and industrial progress.
