The Sindh Women’s Football team secured the silver medal at the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024, held in Islamabad. In a competitive final, the Sindh team faced a 2-0 defeat against the Islamabad Women’s Football team but showcased exceptional performance throughout the tournament.
According to a statement issued today, speaking on the team’s efforts, Coach Sadia Sheikh commended the players for their remarkable display of skill and resilience. “The team has consistently improved over time, and despite the loss in the final, their performance gives us hope for future victories,” she said.
She also lauded the well-organized nature of the tournament, highlighting the complete support from the government, which ensured all necessary facilities were provided to players and team management.
Sadia emphasized the abundant talent among Pakistani women athletes, underscoring the need for more opportunities to nurture their potential. She called for initiatives like talent hunt programs in schools and colleges to identify and support young players.
She expressed optimism about the future of women’s football in Pakistan, stating, “With continued government support and regular tournaments, the day is not far when Pakistan’s women’s football team will make a mark on international platforms.”
The Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games, an annual event promoting sports across provinces, witnessed enthusiastic participation, with Sindh’s commendable performance standing out as a highlight of the competition.
