Six Secretaries Face Disciplinary Action After CM’s Surprise Visit

Six senior provincial secretaries are facing formal inquiries after they were found absent from their posts during a surprise inspection of the Sindh Secretariat by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday morning.

The unannounced visit, which took place before 9:30 a.m., revealed the non-availability of the administrative heads for the Local Government, Food, Forest, Culture, Labour, and Livestock Departments.

Chief Minister Shah expressed strong displeasure over the absence of the top officials, terming it a serious lapse in administrative discipline and contrary to the responsibilities demanded by their senior positions.

Taking immediate notice of the situation, the chief minister directed that explanations be sought from the unavailable secretaries. Following the directive, Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, who had earlier received the Chief Minister upon his arrival, promptly issued official explanation letters to the six concerned officials.

The primary purpose of the Chief Minister’s visit was to assess the pace and quality of ongoing development and renovation works within the secretariat. During the tour, he inspected various sections and emphasised the need for an efficient and professional working environment to improve public service delivery.

While taking serious exception to the absentees, the chief minister expressed satisfaction that most other secretaries were present at their desks during official working hours, describing their presence as a positive sign of commitment and administrative order.
