Functional League leader Sardar Abdul Rahim condemned the proposed “smart lockdown,” calling it an unacceptable measure that will severely increase the hardships of the country’s poor, stressing on Monday that 44.7 percent of the population is already living below the poverty line.
He clarified that imposing further restrictions on the public would be a cruel act, highlighting that citizens are already burdened by severe inflation.
The political leader described the smart lockdown as a “disastrous decision,” especially for the small business class, whom he believes will be severely affected by operational restrictions.
In his statements, Sardar Abdul Rahim argued that this policy would significantly exacerbate the difficulties faced by the most economically vulnerable segments of society.
He urged the government to reconsider its approach, suggesting it should reduce its “extravagant expenditures” instead of placing additional financial and social pressures on the common people.
