SMIU VC Calls on Students to Bolster National Economy Through Start-Ups

The Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, has underscored the critical role of the younger generation in national economic development, urging them to embrace entrepreneurship to contribute towards the country’s prosperity.

Dr. Sahrai delivered his remarks while inaugurating the ‘Start-Up Summit 5.0: From Concept to Success’ at the university’s Talpur House. The summit was a joint initiative by SMIU’s Faculty of Management, Business Administration, and Commerce, and its Business Incubation Centre (BIC), according to the university information on Friday.

The event showcased 32 distinct start-up concepts developed by more than 90 aspiring student entrepreneurs. After the opening ceremony, the vice chancellor, accompanied by university officials including Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto and Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, toured the stalls where the projects were displayed.

Commending the innovative proposals, Dr. Sahrai stated that such creative business ideas and skills would add to the country”s future development. He emphasised the need to provide guidance to young people on their future business plans, enabling them to make a positive impact.

He further opined that in the modern world, strong economic sustainability is derived from trade and business. He advised the new generation to observe global changes and implement their own ideas to support the nation’s economy.

The participating students confidently elaborated on their proposals, presenting their vision and new thoughts related to the field of entrepreneurship.
