Smoking is a silent killer and a serious threat to public health: Governor Sindh

Governor Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi has issued a stern warning about the dangers of smoking, which he described as a silent killer and a major threat to public health. In his message on the occasion of “World No Tobacco Day” today, he emphasized the urgent need to protect younger generations from this widespread threat.

Governor Hashmi highlighted tobacco use as a major cause of cancer, heart, and respiratory diseases. He pointed out that it not only harms individual well-being but also inflicts severe damage on the national economy.

The governor expressed concern over the increasing trend of cigarette and hookah smoking and stressed the importance of decisive actions to curb this trend. He said that tobacco use is polluting the environment and endangering the development prospects of future generations.

Governor Hashmi emphasized the critical need to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking. He appealed to the government, media, and civil society to actively participate in anti-tobacco campaigns.

In a sincere appeal to the public, the governor encouraged individuals to quit smoking to protect their lives and those of their families. He said that creating a tobacco-free society is essential for building a healthy and prosperous Pakistan.
