In a landmark move aimed at enhancing public trust and institutional openness, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has released its first-ever quarterly newsletter, a publication designed to bridge the gap between the judiciary and the public. The inaugural issue was presented to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the Court’s commitment to transparency.
The Chief Justice lauded the Editorial Committee for its dedicated work on the document, which covers the period of January to March 2025. He noted that the publication reflects the apex court’s ongoing efforts toward reform and greater public engagement.
This pioneering report chronicles significant judicial developments, highlighting public-centric initiatives and technology-driven projects. The newsletter also provides insights into landmark judgments, institutional reforms, and details on both national and international judicial cooperation undertaken during the quarter.
Justice Afridi expressed his appreciation for the editorial team’s professionalism, observing that the publication will serve as a vital link to the citizens. He emphasized that improved communication, accessibility, and institutional openness are essential for strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
The Editorial Committee, headed by Additional Registrar Research Syed Sibt-e-Hassan Shamsi, reaffirmed its pledge to maintain the newsletter as an informative and reflective record. The team includes Syeda Saima Shabbir, Saleem Ahmad, Muhammad Shafiq, Dr. Shahid Hussain Kamboyo, and Ms. Maha Jamal.
