(Court): Baldia factory fire case: ATC awards death sentence to two, life imprisonment to four

Karachi:Eight years after the horrifying deadly incident that shocked whole the country, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday announced its verdict on Baldia factory fire, awarding death sentence to two accused Rehman alias Bhola and Zubair alias Charya and life imprisonment to three gatekeepers of the factory, Fazal Mehmood, Arshad Mehmood, and Ali Mohammad, and a manager, Shahrukh. However, the court acquitted four other accused including Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Rauf Siddiqui, Adeeb Khanum, Abdul Sattar and Ali Hassan Qadri over the lack of evidence against them. (Court): ATC delays verdict in Baldia factory fire case

Karachi:An anti-terrorism court on Thursday delayed its verdict in the Baldia factory fire case till September 22 which was expected to be announced today (17 September). An anti-terrorism court (ATC-VII) heard the petition at the judicial complex inside Karachi Central Jail. The court adjourned the hearing after the state prosecutor submitted further documents. The petition was filed by two accused in the case, Ali Hassan Qadri and Dr Abdul Sattar Khan, to delay the verdict of the case. They said that they wanted time to prove that they received Rs50 million compensation for the victims from the factory owners, and they also presented records from the Sindh finance department.
