Islamabad, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Denmark. Millions of Muslims have been hurt by the desecration. Islam is a peaceful religion and teaches respect to the followers of all religions.

The desecration of the holy book Quran has hurt the feelings and sentiments of Muslims. Islamophobia is increasing. The trend is very sad and condemnable. The Muslim Ummah has to take a common stand to remedy Islamophobia. He urged the international community to play a role in preventing the desecration of the holy book like the Holy Quran.

Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani have been strongly condemned by Israeli forces for desecrating Al-Aqsa Mosque and stopping prayers from worshiping

Islamabad, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani have been strongly condemned by the Israeli forces for desecrating the Al-Aqsa Mosque and preventing prayers. He said that the Israeli forces preventing Muslims from praying in the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month is against basic human rights.

The Parliament and the people of Pakistan express full solidarity with the Palestinian people. The violations are a matter of concern for international human rights organizations. They urged the international community to take measures to protect the rights of Palestinian citizens in occupied Jerusalem.

Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications meets

Islamabad, March 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications expressed grave concern over poor service and weak signals problems of Mobile Network Companies across the Country even in Parliament Lodges, Islamabad. The Committee reported poor internet services being provided by NTC in Parliament Lodges resulting in shifting of users to Private Services Operators (NAYATEL) which is providing Internet and its allied services in lower rates than NTC.

A meeting of the Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications was held today on 24th March, 2023 at 02:00 p.m. in Committee Room No. 7, Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali, MNA.

2. Earlier, the Committee was briefed about the performance of all the Telecom Operators all over the country. The Committee was apprised about largest online training program DIGISKILL started by Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) for empowerment of youth as free-lancer and making efforts to remove hurdles in receiving online payments of their services.

The department has imparted training to more than 3 million free-lancers who are earning a lot — generating revenue for the Country. The Committee further informed that Ministry is trying to lessen the gap between Industries and Academia. For the purpose, Ministry is introducing new courses according to international requirements. The Committee directed to take effective measures to enhance their I.T exports in order to generate revenue for Government exchequer.

3. The Committee unanimously recommended to expedite the matter of imports of Telecom related equipment to overcome weak service and signal problems. The Committee directed to revive USF projects in some districts of Balochistan wherein these were suspended on the recommendations of Security Agencies due to law-and-order situation of areas. The Committee also directed PTA to reopen its offices in Karachi and Hyderabad for facilitation of Internet and Mobile Users in all the neighbouring areas.

Standing Committee on Planning Development and Special Initiatives meets

Islamabad, March 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): 25th meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning Development and Special Initiatives was held today the 24th March, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Committee Room No. 7, Fourth Floor, Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, MNA.

2. The Standing Committee took the serious notice of the absence of the Chairman, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Member Planning and Engineering, CDA, and also appointed a Committee under the Chairmanship of Member Infrastructure, Ministry of Planning and also directed that the representative of the Government of Punjab and CDA should also be included in the Committee and make recommendations on the Progress of the sewerage treatment plant of Islamabad and submit the report within fifteen days before the Committee.

3. The Committee discussed the “The General Statistics (re-organization) Amendment Bill, 2022” in detail and passed the bill unanimously.

4. The Committee was informed that the Council of Common Interests in its 45th Meeting held on 12th April approved final results of the 6th Population and Housing Census 2017 and also directed that “The process of next Census should start as early as possible according to international best practices by using latest technology.” The Committee was further informed that it is fairly hoped that transparent counting and stakeholders’ access to monitoring will make the census results credible thus making the Federation of Pakistan strong.

In their congratulatory messages, they said, ” it is moment of pride for whole staff of National Assembly of Pakistan that Syed Shamoon Hashmi Additional Secretary was awarded with Pride of performance.”

They also said that marvellous services of Syed Shamoon Hashmi have set highest standards to be followed by all staff of National Assembly. They also expressed that this award is an acknowledgement to of the services of Syed Shamoon Hashmi who has been a renowned national host and profiles writer.

It is pertinent to mention that Syed Shamoon Ashraf Hashmi claims an illustrious career, spanning over three decades of services on Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan and the print and electronic media at large for the promotion of national language, culture, heritage, literature and people’s rights.

He has been an ardent advocate of Urdu, immaculate compère, seasoned bureaucrat, author, columnist and staunch supporter of democracy and women rights, Mr. Hashmi has various accolades to his name. By means of his articulate Urdu and eloquence of speech, he has kept the glorious tradition of PTV alive as the true campaigner of national language.

He was also deservingly awarded the coveted PTV Award in the category of Best Compere in 2004. His programme, currently on air on PTV, “Raat Gaye” is well-received among the Urdu lovers around the world.

Furthermore, Syed Shamoon Hashmi has stayed in the forefront, both at times of a national crisis or a national celebration. His commitment to the national service, flair for Urdu and dexterity with words was met with acknowledgment, when he was awarded “Tamgha-e-Eisar” by the President of Pakistan for leading the earthquake relief TV telethon “Dard Ashna” in 2006.

He also led the efforts for raising funds for the flood victims in 2001, 2010 and 2011and raised his voice when the nation faced unprecedented security crisis on the eastern borders. Besides, he has conceived, anchored, scripted and moderated multiple genres of television programmes, ranging from quiz shows, telethons, musical recitals, talk shows, gender-based programmes and documentaries.

His services to the promotion of Urdu have been noteworthy. He successfully organized the first International Urdu Conference in 2005. The Conference was a huge diplomatic success as it attracted delegates from 15 countries, including the then Crown Prince of Jordan and the Vice President of Mauritius.

While his written expression has established him as a distinguished author, he enjoys widespread readership from people of all ages. His articles and columns are widely published in literary journals and leading national newspapers. Being an ardent advocate of democracy and women’s rights, his first ever book records the evolution of Women’s Parliamentary Struggle in Pakistan which received immense appreciation and acclaim from national and international quarters. His second book of Urdu prose, titled “Guftugu” is under publication.

In recognition of his meritorious services on the electronic media and the Pakistan National Television, especially for promoting the national language, literature, culture and arts, Syed Shamoon Ashraf Hashmi was conferred with the Pride of Performance by President of Pakistan. Syed Shamoon Hashmi also served for the people affected by the floods in the country including 2001-2010.
