QUETTA: A shutter down strike will be observed in Quetta city on August 22, 2022 apart from observing lockdown strike in all offices of education department and staging a protest sit-in at Hockey Chowk area of the provincial capital in support of the demands of Government Teachers Association (Aaeeni), said a statement issued by GTAA here on Saturday.

It said that owing to the apathy of the provincial government, health conditions of teachers, who had been observing hunger strike unto death for the last 18 days, was deteriorating. GTAA said that all the sister provinces of the country, including federal government and Azad Kashmir, had upgraded the positions of Junior Teachers, but it was not known as to why the posts of junior teachers were not being upgraded in Balochistan.

Separately, Muhammad Amin Badini, Finance Secretary, Balochistan Civil Secretariat Officers Welfare Association visited the protest camp of Government Teachers Association (Aaeeni) to express solidarity with the hunger strikers. Talking to PPI, Badini demanded of the authorities to accede to the legitimate demands of GTAA.
