Telenor Pakistan will formally merge into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), which operates under the Ufone 5G brand, effective July 2026, after securing the final statutory approval from the Islamabad High Court, completing one of the largest consolidation deals in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector.
According to an official information today, the court’s approval concludes a lengthy regulatory process involving multiple statutory and regulatory authorities. Following the merger, Telenor Pakistan will cease to exist as an independent legal entity, with all of its operations, network assets and subscribers becoming part of PTML.
The enlarged company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), will continue operating as PTML. The integration is expected to strengthen the company’s market presence through broader network coverage, an enhanced spectrum portfolio and increased investment capacity for next-generation telecommunications and digital services across Pakistan.
PTML said it would continue expanding its 5G footprint, reinforce the country’s digital infrastructure and improve service delivery for millions of subscribers. The company also assured customers of both Ufone 5G and former Telenor Pakistan that services would remain uninterrupted throughout the integration process while offering improved connectivity and an enhanced digital experience.
Commenting on the development, PTCL President and Chief Executive Officer Hatem Bamatraf described the merger as a milestone for both the company and Pakistan’s telecommunications industry. He said the company appreciated the Government of Pakistan and all institutions involved for their diligence and support in completing the transaction.
Bamatraf also thanked customers for their continued trust in both Ufone and Telenor Pakistan during the transition and praised employees for their commitment in achieving the milestone. He said the unified company aimed to deliver innovative products and services that would establish new standards for digital experiences in Pakistan.
