Texas Chicken® Expands into Pakistan with Multi-Unit Development Deal

Experienced Franchise Group to Establish Strong Middle East/Asia Presence for Steadily Growing Brand

ATLANTA, Feb. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — There is a growing preference for chicken among consumers worldwide – especially in Asia, where a Watt Media Agricultural Report from 2017 predicted a 40% increase in chicken consumption for the region by 2037. It is because of this shift in dietary preference that Texas Chicken® enthusiastically announced a new multi-unit franchise deal in Pakistan with The Venus Group. The first new restaurant to open under the new franchise relationship will be at the Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. When it opens in Spring 2019, it will be one of the first in the world that will feature the new Texas Chicken design image, making it a landmark opening for the brand and Venus Group alike.

“Pakistan is an exciting market with a rapidly evolving economy,” said Yang Ming “YM” Ong, Vice President of Texas Chicken. “It’s the kind of destination and population that is ideal for our wide variety of quality fried chicken offerings as well as our strong approach to value. The fact we’ve been able to enter this market with such an experienced franchisee is further proof that it isn’t just guests who love Texas Chicken, it’s business owners, too.”

The Venus Group currently operates in six countries, including the U.S., Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates. The group is involved in consolidation and freight forwarding, warehousing, logistics, and direct distribution within the food service sector, and is the exclusive logistics partner for Pakistan for a number of food & beverage and consumer product brands. As well, they manufacture their own line of desserts, packaged ice cubes, dairy and non-dairy ice creams, tissue products, and have plans to add cheese, jams, and paper cups to their product line in the near future. The new Texas Chicken deal is a country-wide development and franchise agreement with plans to set up 35 Texas Chicken restaurants throughout the country.

“Our vision is to make Texas Chicken the leading quick service chain in the area,” said Adnan Asad, CEO for the Venus Group. “We want to make it a delight for our customers to experience high quality products, friendly service, and value, while also making it a pleasure for other vendors and businesses to work with us as well.”

“Any time we are able to expand our brand in such an important market as Pakistan, it is an exciting prospect,” said Tony Moralejo, Executive Vice President of International Business for Texas Chicken. “We are looking forward to working side-by-side with the Venus Group to fulfill their vision of making Texas Chicken Pakistan’s favorite fried chicken brand.”
