The Embassy of Pakistan, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, in collaboration with Pakistan Study Centre, Tajik National University organizes “Iqbal Day” to celebrate the 143rd birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal

Islamabad, November 10, 2020 (PPI-OT): The Embassy of Pakistan, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, in collaboration with Pakistan Study Centre, Tajik National University organized “Iqbal Day” to celebrate the 143rd birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The speakers included Mr. R. Abdullozoda, Deputy Rector, Tajik National University; Mr. Karomatullo Olimov, Chairman of Tajikistan-Pakistan Friendship Society; Professor H.R. Rajabov; Dr. H. Kurbonov and Professor Ms. M. Amirshoeva. They spoke on different aspects of Allama Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy says a press release received for Dushanbe, Tajikistan here today.

The speakers highlighted that Iqbal’s works have universal appeal and are being appreciated all over the world. There is a need to revert to Iqbal’s message and thinking in order to confront modern day challenges plaguing modern societies in general and Muslim societies in particular. Ambassador Imran Haider, in his remarks, highlighted Allama Iqbal’s philosophy and message, his association with Kashmir, universal appeal of his writings and different influences on the poet of the East including that of Mir Syed Ali Hamadani.

He added that Allama Iqbal presented a vision of separate homeland for Muslim of the subcontinent at Allahabad in 1930 which became a reality on 14th of August 1947. Students of Urdu Department, Tajik National University also recited verses of Allama Muhammad Iqbal on the occasion. The event ended with distribution of gifts by the Ambassador among the students.
